Winter Reflections and Spring Focus: Preparing for the Season Ahead at Indigro
Winter is often seen as the quieter part of the farming calendar, but for those of us in agronomy, it is anything but idle. While the pace in the field may slow, the work behind the scenes rarely does. In many ways, the winter months...

Harry’s Blog 4: Autumn in Review
I thought I would start this blog post by reviewing this past Autumn and the outlook for most farms. Not much has changed since my previous entry, with the rain continuing to hold us off the land and wet patches still laying wet. The frosts...

Charlotte's Blog 8. I passed!!!
This is a very belated blog, having found out I can call myself an agronomist over a month ago, however the relief I felt has not begun to wear off. The last few weeks have been filled with final visits to crops, pre-harvest meetings, internal...

Back in the day, and shortly after leaving university, I worked a short-term contract for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). This hugely prestigious organisation traces its origins back to the second world war and to a strategic, military operation to provide an active presence on...

Charlotte's Blog 6. T-minus two weeks until BASIS
Over the last few weeks, I have been attempting to divide my time between helping the team at the busiest time of year and revising. FOMO (Fear of missing out) whilst I’m revising is very real at the moment, and I love any opportunity to...

You don’t have to be religious to have faith. In fact, the more modern and secular the world becomes, the deeper our faith needs to be. With increasing technological progress, we become ever more removed from the mechanics of these technologies. We no longer know...

I’ve always been someone who speaks his mind – mainly because I’m not very diplomatic. I am also your classic hypocrite and hands-in-the-air guilty of the “he can give it, but he can’t take it” critique. I don’t choose to be that way, it’s just...

There are numerous examples of erroneous quoting and cultural misremembering. Julius Caesar never said, “Veni, vidi, vici”. Sherlock Holmes never said, “Elementary my dear Watson”. And despite it being perhaps the most quoted movie line ever, Humphry Bogart never said, “Play it again, Sam”. But...
